What is Speed Skating Betting and Why Choose 3lok?
Speed skating is one of the most popular Winter Olympic events where athletes skate at maximum speed on ice. The Netherlands, Norway, South Korea and Canada are traditionally strong in this sport. 3lok is the only platform in Bangladesh where you'll find comprehensive speed skating betting markets — on every distance and event.
Speed Skating comes in two main formats — Long Track and Short Track. Long Track takes place on a 400-metre oval with two skaters racing simultaneously. Short Track uses a smaller 111-metre track where 4–6 skaters race together — making it far more exciting and collision-prone.
At 3lok, we open betting markets for every event across the Winter Olympics, World Speed Skating Championships, European Championships, and the World Cup series — from the 500m sprint all the way to the 10,000m and Team Pursuit.
Benefits of Speed Skating Betting on 3lok
Speed Skating markets are hard to find on most betting platforms, especially outside the Olympic season. 3lok provides betting opportunities on major Speed Skating events throughout the year. We recognise that this sport has a growing global fanbase — and that players in Bangladesh are increasingly interested in winter sports.
Speed Skating betting markets on 3lok include: Outright Winner (who wins the race), Podium Finish (top three), Head-to-Head (which of two skaters finishes ahead), and Time Under/Over (whether the winner finishes inside or outside a set time). Live betting is available with odds updating during the race, though Speed Skating events tend to finish very quickly.
Key Information
The minimum bet for speed skating at 3lok is only BDT 150. Maximum bet can range from BDT 50,000 to BDT 8,00,000 depending on your VIP level. Bet settlement happens immediately after the official race result is announced and winnings are added to your account within 5 minutes.
How to Bet on Speed Skating at 3lok
Getting started with Speed Skating betting is straightforward. Log in to 3lok and head to the Sports Betting menu. You will find Speed Skating under "Winter Sports" or "Olympic Events". Browse the upcoming events and select the race you want to bet on.
Every race offers multiple markets. Long Track events typically feature two skaters going head-to-head, making Head-to-Head betting a natural fit. Short Track races with multiple skaters make Outright Winner and Podium Finish markets especially popular. Simply pick your selection, enter your stake, and click "Place Bet".
Speed Skating races are over quickly — the 500m is done in just 35–40 seconds, leaving little window for live betting. However, in longer distances (5,000m or 10,000m) you can watch the odds shift mid-race and look for the right moment to act.
Types of Speed Skating Events
Speed skating has two main categories — Long Track and Short Track. Each category includes events at various distances and both men's and women's divisions. Long Track skating is more straightforward and tactical, while Short Track relies on physical contact and quick decisions.
Long Track Speed Skating Events
| Event | Distance | Category |
|---|---|---|
| 500m Sprint | 500 Meters | Men & Women |
| 1,000m | 1,000 Meters | Men & Women |
| 1,500m | 1,500 Meters | Men & Women |
| 3,000m | 3,000 Metres | Women |
| 5,000m | 5,000 Metres | Men & Women |
| 10,000m | 10,000 Meters | Men |
| Team Pursuit | 8 Laps (3,200m) | Men & Women |
| Mass Start | 16 Laps | Men & Women |
The most popular Long Track event is the 500m sprint — the fastest and most thrilling discipline, where the smallest mistake can be the difference between a medal and nothing. The 10,000m is the longest event, a true test of endurance that runs for roughly 13 minutes.
Short Track Speed Skating Events
Short Track is more thrilling because multiple skaters race together and physical contact is common. The track is smaller (111m) with sharp turns, so tactics and positioning are crucial. Main Short Track events — 500m, 1,000m, 1,500m and 3,000m relay (women) & 5,000m relay (men).
One unique market in 3lok's Short Track betting is "Disqualification" — because skaters in this discipline are regularly penalised for rule violations or contact during races. If you believe a disqualification is likely in a particular race, you can place a bet on that market.
Top Speed Skaters & Nations
Certain countries traditionally dominate speed skating. The Netherlands is unstoppable in Long Track — they win the most medals at nearly every Olympics. South Korea and China are strong in Short Track. Norway, Canada and Japan are also regular medal contenders.
The Netherlands' Sven Kramer is a legendary Long Track skater — he's won 9 Olympic medals. Among women skaters, the Netherlands' Ireen Wüst and Canada's Cindy Klassen are among the best. In Short Track, South Korea's Lee Jung-su and China's Wang Meng are famous names.
Olympic Speed Skating Highlights
Speed skating is one of the highest medal-awarding sports at the Winter Olympics. At the Beijing 2022 Olympics, the Netherlands won 8 gold medals in Long Track, proving their dominance. South Korea won 7 medals in Short Track including 4 golds.
Speed skating will once again be a major attraction at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. At 3lok we'll open betting markets on every speed skating event — from heats to finals. With live streaming features you can watch races directly and place bets.
3lok Olympic Bonus
Special speed skating betting offers at 3lok for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic season — 30% cashback on your first speed skating bet and free bet rewards for correctly predicting every medal-winning skater. Bonuses up to BDT 5,000.
Speed Skating Betting Strategy
Keep a few things in mind before betting on speed skating. First, track conditions are crucial — ice temperature and hardness affect skaters' speed. Second, lane draw matters in Long Track — starting from the inner lane (lane 1) is advantageous because the turns are less sharp.
Positioning is everything in Short Track. Leading early does not guarantee a win — overtaking in the final lap is common. A skater conserving energy strategically near the back may actually have better winning prospects.
On 3lok, each skater's recent form, season-best times, and Head-to-Head records are available to help you make more informed predictions. For newcomers, the best advice is to start with smaller stakes and build your knowledge over time.
Betting Markets & Options at 3lok
3lok offers a wide range of betting markets for Speed Skating. The Outright Winner market (who will win) is the most straightforward option. You can also bet on Podium Finish, where your selected skater just needs to finish in the top three — odds are generally lower here, but the chances of winning are higher.
In the Head-to-Head market, pick which of the two skaters will record the faster time. This market is especially popular in Long Track events where two skaters race side by side. In the Time Under/Over market, you predict whether the winning skater will finish inside a set time.
Accumulator Bets and Multipliers
To bet across multiple events, use the Accumulator feature on 3lok. For example, select your picks for the Men's 500m, Women's 1,000m, and the Short Track relay — if all three bets win, your total payout multiplies accordingly.
Example: You bet on three races, each with 2.00 odds. If all win, your multiplier becomes 2x2x2 = 8.00. A BDT 1,000 bet would give you BDT 8,000. But remember, if one bet loses the entire accumulator is lost, so choose carefully.
Live Betting & Cash Out
Live betting on speed skating is limited because races finish very quickly. But in longer distance races (5,000m or 10,000m) and Mass Start events, live odds keep updating. If a skater has a weak start in the first half but picks up speed in the second, live odds will shift and you can seize the opportunity.
The cash out feature lets you close your bet before the race ends. For example, you bet on a skater who's ahead midway through the race. If you think they won't maintain the lead to the end, cash out and take guaranteed profit.
Country-Based Betting & Medal Count
At 3lok, we offer country-based betting markets alongside individual race markets. At the Olympics or World Championships, you can bet on "Most Medals by Country" or "Most Golds in Speed Skating". If you think the Netherlands will top the gold medal count, there is a market for that.
This type of betting is long-term and runs throughout the entire tournament. Each race result affects your bet, so it's an ongoing thrill. Country-based betting odds at 3lok are usually good because it's a specialized market.
Special Betting Options
3lok has some special betting options not available on other platforms. In the "Record Breaker" market you can bet on whether a skater will break the world record. In the "Disqualification in Race" market, predict whether a skater will be disqualified in a Short Track race.
There's also the "Exact Podium" market where you must select the top three skaters in exact order. It's very difficult but odds are extremely high — typically 15.00 to 50.00. If you predict correctly, you'll get a massive payout.
Mobile Betting & Live Streaming
The 3lok mobile app and mobile website both fully support Speed Skating betting. During the Olympic season, you can place bets anytime — at home, at work, or on the go. The interface is mobile-optimised and loads fast.
The live streaming feature lets you watch races in real time directly on the 3lok platform — no third-party app needed. Major events at the Olympics and big championships are streamed live. You can place bets while watching the race and track odds changes as they happen.
Push notifications from the mobile app will alert you when your favourite event is about to start, when odds shift significantly, and when your bet wins or loses — so you never miss a key moment.
Fast Payment and Security
When you win a Speed Skating bet on 3lok, your payout is typically credited to your account within 5 minutes of the official result. We know fast payouts matter — especially when multiple races are running and you need funds ready for your next bet.
